To the compact nursing pillowKapok as filling material in organic cotton nursing pillow
Our Minky Mooh nursing pillows made of organic cotton are filled with sustainable kapok. The natural fiber surrounds the kapok seeds in a 20 cm long fruit capsule. After harvesting, the capsules are opened and the kapok is dried in the sun. The kapok is then separated from the kapok seeds in a blower chamber. No further treatment steps are necessary.

The benefits of kapok in nursing pillows
- No sweating, no heat build-up: The kapok fiber wicks away moisture and ensures pleasant heat and moisture regulation.
- Breathable and water-repellent: The natural fiber traps a lot of air in its cavities, making it breathable and, thanks to the natural wax layer, also water-repellent. Even if something goes wrong, the kapok stays clean.
- Temperature regulating: Kapok cools in summer and warms in winter. This means that it always ensures an optimal climate for you and your baby.
- Low noise: Nursing pillows with microbeads rustle on the ear and can feel uncomfortable when resting your head on them. Kapok is noiseless, soft and gentle.
- Memory foam effect: Nursing pillows with microbeads often create hollows. Our kapok nursing pillow, on the other hand, gives way gently and then returns to its original shape. The memory foam effect ensures that the pillow always adjusts to you and your baby.
- Perfect for dads too: We've heard from many dads that they use our nursing pillow to put their baby in the nest or to give them a bottle. Even dads without children have our nursing pillow at home and use it for sleeping and cuddling.
- A companion for years: Many children use the nursing pillow even after they reach toddler age, e.g. as a bed border or for cuddling.
- Sustainability: Kapok is harvested from wild trees and does not contain any pesticides or other pollutants.
Frequently asked questions about the nursing pillow
What types of nursing pillows are there?
- U-shape: Our XXL nursing pillow has this U-shape and is 190 cm long, making it ideal for various nursing positions. You can also use it to form a baby nest.
- American: This pillow is smaller and curved similarly to the U-shape. Its shape stability and compact size make it a great companion for on the go.
- Half-moon shape: A half-moon shaped nursing pillow is an intermediate size and slightly smaller than the U-shape, but larger than an American nursing pillow. It is only slightly curved and easy to handle.
- C-shape: Compared to the U-shape, the ends of a C-shaped nursing pillow are bent more inwards. The pillows are suitable for many nursing positions and serve as a barrier, e.g. in bed to prevent falling out. C-shaped nursing pillows are often 150 to 200 cm long.
How do I choose the right size for my nursing pillow?
Most nursing pillows are between 140 and 190 cm in size. Most nursing mothers can manage with these sizes, although the ideal size often depends on your own preferences, sitting and nursing position, and your own height.
How useful is a nursing pillow
A nursing pillow is useful and recommended during pregnancy, but especially after birth. Our nursing pillows provide comfortable support when sleeping and breastfeeding.
When should I buy a nursing pillow?
Buying a nursing pillow is worthwhile from the very beginning of your pregnancy. You can use it as a comfortable sleeping support and to stabilize your growing belly as your pregnancy progresses.
What should I look for when buying a nursing pillow?
- A soft and comfortable cover
- A natural pillow filling, e.g. kapok
- The right size for mom and child
- Appearance and size must match the intended use and breastfeeding position
How to use a nursing pillow for breastfeeding correctly?
Sit on a chair, armchair or sofa and place the pillow in front of you so that the curve is around your stomach and under your chest. You can lay your baby flat on the pillow directly in front of you or to your side. Try out which breastfeeding position you and your baby like best.
What material should a nursing pillow be made of?
Make sure your nursing pillow is made of high-quality material. We recommend finely woven cotton for the cover. It is soft, durable and easy to clean. For even more comfort, we recommend a knitted cover - also made of cotton. Make sure the materials are natural and sustainably produced and do not contain any harmful substances. We also recommend sustainable and natural materials for the pillow filling, e.g. kapok. Other fillings, e.g. polystyrene, EPS or polyester can rustle and become uncomfortable. A kapok nursing pillow, on the other hand, can be shaken up and shaped again and again.
Can nursing pillows be refilled?
Yes, our nursing pillows have a second cover with a zipper underneath, which you can use to change or refill the filling. You can find Kapok in a refill bag in our shop.
How do I properly care for my nursing pillow?
If you choose a Minky Mooh nursing pillow, you can wash the cotton covers at 30°C (knitted cover) and 60°C (percale cover). The kapok filling, however, must not be washed. It is enough to air it out in the sun and shake it up again so that it becomes really fluffy again.
How important is certification for nursing pillows?
Many baby products can contain harmful substances that have a negative impact on the development of the immune and nervous systems, and can promote the development of allergies and susceptibility to infections. Since your baby comes into contact with the nursing pillow, it is important that you pay attention to certifications that confirm that all materials have been tested for harmful substances. Our textiles are tested and certified according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and GOTS.
What does Oeko-Tex certified mean?
Oeko-Tex Standard 100 states that all textiles, from the yarn to the finished product, have been tested in the laboratory for harmful substances and are safe. This means that they are free of harmful substances and chemicals and we can assure you of the best quality and safety. For products that come into intensive contact with the skin, the so-called human ecological requirements and laboratory tests are even stricter.
What does GOTS certified mean?
The GOTS certification guarantees that the nursing pillows are produced in an environmentally and socially responsible manner
