Kapok filling material: What is Kapok?
Kapok is a plant fiber and a purely natural product that comes from the seed capsules of wild-growing kapok trees and does not require any sprays or pesticides. After harvesting, the 25-30 cm long fruits of the kapok tree are opened and the fine kapok wool is taken out and dried in the sun. Kapok is often used in pillows, mattresses and upholstery because it is hypoallergenic, resistant to mold and bacteria, and biodegradable.
What are the advantages of kapok compared to synthetic fibers?
The fine, cotton-like hairs are silky and shiny and covered with a fine layer of wax, which makes them water and moisture repellent. The fine layer of wax ensures that moisture is drawn outwards and no moisture builds up. Air is trapped in the kapok fibers, which makes the fiber very fluffy, soft and breathable. In summer, the breathable kapok ensures that moisture is drawn outwards and in winter it locks in heat and keeps you warm.

The plant down is a vegan alternative to animal-sourced duck and goose down, as well as a natural and sustainable alternative to polystyrene and polyester.
